is a continuation of our InDesign course series.
In this 1-day course, participants will: set up multiple-page spreads; use object libraries and snippets; and evenly space and align items. They will use layer comps in a placed PSD file; create lighting effects; adjust transparency; define and use object styles; and transform objects by using the Pathfinder panel and the Transform Again commands. They’ll edit text and review tracked changes in the Story Editor; explore the CS Review panel; insert special characters; and create column, frame, and page breaks. They’ll create sections, dynamically changing running headers, tables of contents, cross-references, and indexes for a document; combine several documents into a book file for printing; and insert footnotes. They’ll work with conditional text; and merge data from a text file into an InDesign document.
They’ll discuss monitor calibration and adjust InDesign’s colour management preferences; adjust colour settings for individual images; discuss spot colours, the differences between desktop and commercial printing, and how printers use halftones to produce colour; create process and spot colours and add a Pantone colour; delete and replace swatches; create mixed inks; and colorise a grayscale TIFF or JPEG image. They will also learn how to use the Links panel to fix missing links, update modified links, and open original image files for editing; and use the Separations Preview and Flattener Preview panels to prevent or address printing problems. They will create hyperlinks, bookmarks, and buttons; add movies and sounds to documents, and export the documents as interactive PDF or SWF files; and export documents as XHTML for Web use and for use with Digital Editions.
