Earlier this week we had the opportunity to get further information on the new IQ2 series of Phase One backs.
At this time we not only got an in depth insight as to the new back, we got access to some files taken with 2 of the 3 new backs. Team Digital now have some sample files shot with the IQ260 and the IQ260 Achromatic. All with a ground breaking 13 stops of dynamic range, we’ve got to say its amazing to see what a extra ½ stop will do.
We now have the ability to shoot long exposures up to 1 hour , this opens up all sorts of opportunity. On the IQ260 with 13 stops of dynamic range. This coupled with the rest of the Phase One system and Capture One 7 software, leads to files that are extraordinary. The IQ260 offers up 60MP of data resulting in a 173MB 8 bit TIF or 346MB 16 bit TIF files.
The IQ260 Achromatic also offers us 60MP of data only in this instance, it is Monochrome only, with results that are astounding. We still have 13 stops of dynamic range in a dedicated black and white capture device.
As an 8 Bit TIF the resulting file is sized at 172MB and as a 16 Bit TIF the file equates to 344MB. The results are mind blowing.
The whole of the IQ2 range now have the ability to tether wirelessly to iPads or iPhones via Capture Pilot, a Phase One created APP is available now from the APP Store. Not only do you have the ability to look at captures as they are taken, with magnification capabilities for a closer look at your details, you can also shoot from the remote device. Perfect for studio shoots and so much more.

OK its better late then never. We have a few formalities to finalize for the Golden Shopping Trolley Awards 2012.

Lastly our over all winner of 2012 Ben Clegg has spent his 2 weeks with our Phase One IQ180 kit. Here are some comments that Ben made about his experiences with the Phase One IQ180 kit.
“When it came to opening up the images in Capture One I was blown away by the definition in the images! I had never seen anything like it, is very hard to explain the quality as it is almost 3D, I think my wife said it the best “this camera see’s better than the human eye”.
I have now printed a few images on my Epson Pro 7900 and I have to say they are the best quality prints that I have done to date.”

The new IQ2 has pushed Image Quality beyond Megapixels. The all new IQ2 back is the result of collaboration between Teledyne Dalsa and Phase One.
The IQ2 has built-in state-of-the-art Wi-Fi and antennas, and you can connect your iPad or iPhone to it wirelessly and use Capture Pilot to set exposure, trigger the shutter and instantly check focus and composition on a large screen.
The large screen on the iPad makes it easy to judge composition and focus. With the wireless connectivity in the IQ2 you can review and select images on the fly with an iPad running Capture Pilot. Rating and color tags are applied to the original files.

IQ260 Achromatic
The IQ260 Achromatic offers pure black and white images; no filters or interpolation applied. The 60 megapixel captures are stunning and pin sharp. As there is no IR cut-off filter mounted on the sensor, there are endless opportunities to create very distinct imagery both for artistic and scientific purposes using the wide array of lens-mounted filters on the market.
