We have a number of clients running Microsoft Windows7 OS complaining that their Epson printer drivers are responding very slowly…

Now after working on this problem for what seemed like weeks—downloading drivers, firmware and every thing else you can think of—the problem seems to be a corrupt file that should be a few Kb rather than a 30 odd Mb.

Go toC:Program dataEpsonPrinter and delete the file EPAUDS01.AUD
(don’t worry, it will automatically create another file to replace it)

Shut down the computer, then restart and open a program you were having a problem printing with. Attempt to print as normal. If it still lags, Close out of that Application and then reopen it again.

You should now be up and running :)

Its worked on three problem computers now.
So good luck and happy printing.

One other point. If you can’t find the files in question, they may be hidden system files. Here are the instructions to make them visible…

How To Show Hidden Files in Windows 7

* Click the Start button
* Open Control Panel
* Then go to Folder Options
* Click the View tab
* Check “Hidden files and folders: Show all files and folders”
* Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”
* Click “Apply” and then “OK”

Have you had canvases that haven’t printed to the size you expected?

Since Canvas is generally thicker than the media type being selected in the print driver, the actual image can print smaller than its Photoshop dimensions. This really shows up when you are trying to get an exact image edge on a canvas to put it onto a pre-cut stretcher frame.

Whilst its not an exact science €”there can be other variables like brand of canvas, humidity, media selection, etc. €”this solution will help.

• In the Epson print driver, choose €œPaper configuration €

• In the “Paper Configuration” section, locate the “Paper Feed Adjustment” and drag the slider to the right.
There are too many variables to give hard and fast figures, but the compensation required will usually be around + 35 but it it can be as high as +55

Enjoy :)

It doesn’t really :

iPad 2 can save an image up to 16 megapixels.
If your image is larger than your iPad supports, the image will be downsampled to the maximum supported megapixels.

You can also run into some problems with image files from iPhoto being synced via iTunes. If the longest dimension is greater than 2048 your photos will be downsized to that limitation.
Using an app like DropBox will get around this ‘feature

Hope this helps — kinda, sorta, maybe :???:

Camera Raw 6.4 update

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe ® Creative Suite ® 5, Adobe Photoshop ® CS5.

While Adobe Camera Raw updated to support a number of cameras , the only one we really wanted to hear about was the Fuji X100.

Now supported by ACR 6.4 thanks Adobe. Now all we need is some cameras

Heres the link to down load the latest ACR

Also if you are interested in ACR then you may be interested in one of the courses we are offering

We have been struggling with the problem of not being able to print profile targets through Adobe Photoshop CS5 since its release. Some of our clients only run CS5 so we couldn’t get them to print a set of targets for us to profile. The problem is that there is no longer a “No Colour Management ” option in CS5 –which made creating a media profile impossible.

Well, after the colour management community complaining about this problem for sometime. Adobe have come up with a work around.

Adobe® Color Printer Utility is an application to print your targets without colour management applied. This will only work with TIFF files, which wont be a problem if you get us to produce the profiles, as all our targets are already in TIFF format. Thanks Adobe for finally getting right.

Here’s the link to the free download
