Digital Village Academy

The Digital Village Academy supports our members by delivering a diverse range of learning programmes and activities each term.

These are:
• developed in response to the interests and requests of people in the community,
• are usually very flexible in the way they are run,
• and suit a range of varying participant abilities and backgrounds.

Courses foster skills & knowledge development, and social participation, in a relaxed, supportive environment. They are (usually) non-accredited and informal in nature, which removes a lot of the pressure and competitiveness of other more traditional training alternatives. Although primarily for personal development, several are pitched at a professional level for those looking towards an employment entry/re-entry pathway. The Digital Village Academy is ably supported by the technical expertise, hardware assets and software resources of Team Digital.

Well it seems as though Light Fantastic and FotoFreo have left a taste for more photography things in many people’s minds, so we’ve loaded up term two with a few more extra courses :???:
We kick off at the end of April with Photoshop Lightroom. Although we’ll be focusing Lightroom v3 it’s also applicable to v4 as there’s a lot in common anyway & we’ll discuss the newer features towards the end of the 2-day workshop. This is a BYO laptop class as its important that you leave with a well setup catalogue on your own computer.
The Photoshop Intermediate is on a Wednesday evening this term. It runs over 5 consecutive weeks.
Photoshop Elements, is this time around, over 2 consecutive Saturdays. Please note that this is not a beginners PHOTOSHOP course. Photoshop ELEMENTS is a different piece of software, related to, but not the same as, its big brother. This is also a BYO laptop class to ensure your Organiser is setup correctly on your own computer.
Brand-spanking-new for this term is a dedicated Wacom seminar, to help you get the best from your Intuos tablets and Cintiq panels.
There’s a little something for everyone. Check it out :
