Not good enough ABC 3

Whilst we DO congratulate the ABC on their new show promoting photography “Photo Finish” we can’t say the same thing of the Photo Competition associated with this series.

We usually encourage people to entry photographic competitions from a number of points of view, but unfortunately can’t say the same for this one.

We urge you to read the not-so-fine-print. Here’s the main offending clause :

“14. By submitting your entry to the promoter, you grant the promoter and its licensees and assignees a non-exclusive licence to exercise all rights in your entry, including without limitation, the right to reproduce and communicate your entry to the public in whole or in part, in perpetuity and throughout the world in any media.”

Why are photographers’ rights ripped-off & their images devalued in this way?

Shame, Shame, Shame

  1. For a bit of background reading check out
Photographer’ & Artist’s Bill of Rights

  2. Thanks for posting this. It is a bit disappointing, but I guess it is up to the individual if they enter or not. You highlight a very good point – always read the conditions etc..

  3. Well done Team Digital.

Bringing this matter to the attention of those concerned can only serve to fortify and promote the importance of Photographers Rights within the industry.

    Point well taken and considered.
