Grey Imported Nikon product in WA

It has come to our attention that not all new Nikon equipment sold in Western Australia has been sourced from the official suppliers, Nikon Australia. This practice, sometimes referred to as Grey Importing, can have significant consequences for customers who unknowingly purchase from an unauthorised dealer. The equipment will not be covered by an Australian Warranty and will almost certainly have to be returned to the country of origin if service is required. Sometimes a little saving can turn into a whole world of pain.

Nikons policy is quite clear – here is a section from their website:

What does owning a “Grey Market” Nikon product mean to you?

Nikon Australia cannot provide any technical support or warranty service on Grey Market items. Please do not contact Nikon Australia for help with any Grey Market products. Please contact the reseller or importer of your Grey Market items for warranty and service information as well as software updates and downloads. However, Nikon Australia are still able to perform fee-based repair work on Grey Market items if necessary.

How do you know if it’s a grey import? Simple!

If the warranty card doesn’t have “Nikon Australia” in the red square as shown below, then it is a grey import product.
