Getting Mobile with Wacom's Cintiq Companion

Wacom have just released Cintiq Companion – so what is the Cintiq Companion?  Basically it’s a 13″ Cintiq with a built-in computer. Now you can create wherever & whenever you want.

It come in a number of different configurations.

Cintiq Companion with Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro has high enough specs to run all of the creative software you could need, with a 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i-7-3517U processor, 1.9 GHz Graphics Card Intel® HD Graphics 4000, 8GB DDR3 RAM & a choice of 256 GB or 512 GB solid state drive Hard Disk Storage. It also has a Micro SD slot that can take a card of up to 64Gb capacity.
The Cintiq Companion has been designed with the needs of creative professionals in mind. “With Wacom, we worked together to select the best combination of features to make it an excellent mobile platform for Adobe® Photoshop®.” said Maria Yap, senior director of product management at Adobe. “The Cintiq Companion is optimised for the latest version of Photoshop® Creative Cloud™ and gives creative professionals a way to get out of the studio and create wherever they feel most inspired.”

Cintiq Companion Hybrid with Android  4.2 Jelly Bean comes with an Nvidia Tegra 4 Quadcore processor, Nvidia GPU with 72 Graphic cores, 2GB memory and a choice of  16 or 32Gb hard disk storage. It also comes with a Micro SD slot. The interesting thing about the Hybrid is that it can be used as a traditional Cintiq as well as a stand-alone device. So once you’re done using it out in the field, you can then connect the Hybrid to your Mac or Windows computer as a second screen and tablet – a two in one solution.
The Android Jellybean has specially designed software, such as the new Wacom Creative Canvas for painting and sketching and Wacom Manga Canvas for the first phases of Manga creation. For further refinement when back in the studio, rough images can be easily transferred to a computer or shared directly to popular cloud services with the easy and pre-loaded ASTRO File Manager™

All Cintiq Companion creative tablet comes with an adjustable stand, Pro Pen, pen case with 9 replacement nibs and nib removal tool, Cintiq soft case, AC power adapter & quick start guide.

The Companions have all the features we  know and love from the Cintiq, including the new customisable on-screen controls, ExpressKeys, Rocker Ring and Radial Menu. To enable a truly mobile working style, the Cintiq Companion family packs some impressive mobile communications features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth® (version 4.0 for Cintiq Companion and version 3.0 for Cintiq Companion Hybrid), front/rear HD cameras (2M pixels/8M pixels), stereo headset jack and microphone for hosting calls or streaming movies.
